It is a star magnolia. I learned that from my own readers. We have one in our yard.
Yes, it’s a variety of Magnolia. I have one in white that’s already bloomed, and covet the (more expensive!) pink.
Hi Nita, your neighbour’s tree is very pretty and I think it is a variety of Magnolia and I hope it is scented. I am no expert on trees but it might give you somewhere to start in identifying it properly. We have lots of magnolia’s flowering in our area. X
